"Lifetime Management of Materials" (LMM) Service Advisory Help Line

Lithgow Associates administer under contract to the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) the LMM. The Helpline offers UK Industry free and impartial advice on all matters relating to Corrosion. The LMM is based at the National Physical Laboratory Teddington UK.

The function of the LMM Helpline is as follows:

To support UK industry in its efforts to control corrosion.

The helpline staff provide a fast technical response to UK companies with questions relating to corrosion. Examples of the support offered are:

*    Solutions to corrosion problems that have already occurred
*    Advice on how to prevent and control corrosion
*    Guidance on sources of information
*    Provision of good practice guides

Advice can also be provided on a consultancy basis when appropriate.
The LMM website provides guidance that you can use to control corrosion.  It is set out in a checklist format to enable you to better consider how you can control corrosion. It is being operated in parallel with the helpline which you can use to answer any questions you may have about corrosion by telephone or email. If you cannot find the information you need please contact us and we will use the resources we have to help you.
